What can go in my organics bin?

All organics and green waste. This includes all food and garden vegetation, including fish, meat and bones, tea bags and coffee grounds, leftover foods (cooked or raw) as well as green waste which includes grass clippings, twigs, weeds and flowers. Tissues, paper towel and pet excrement are also acceptable. Do not put any plastic bags , recyclable materials or household garbage into organics bin. Please don’t pack your bin too tightly as it can become stuck making collections difficult.

Food waste including:

  • seafood, meat and chicken scraps including fat and bones

  • dairy products & egg shells

  • leftover food

  • fruit and vegetable waste

  • cereal, grains, pasta, breads, cakes & pastries

  • coffee grounds & tea bags

Garden waste including:

  • grass clippings & weeds

  • leaves, flowers

  • twigs and sticks

  • prunings

Other organic waste including:

  • paper towel, paper plates & serviettes

  • tissues

  • shredded paper

  • fish & chip paper

  • pet excrement wrapped in paper or loose

  • hair & fur

Please do not place plastic bags, nappies, polystyrene foam or medical waste in your organics bin.
