REROC Waste Forum

Co-operation between REROC member councils in relation to waste management

The REROC Waste Forum was established in 1997 to promote co-operation between REROC member councils in relation to waste management. Since that time it has expanded beyond waste management issues to encompass a wide variety of environmental issues and has been responsible for initiating a number of diverse projects.

The Waste Forum focuses on a two-pronged approach to waste management in the region:

  • projects to improve community awareness and behaviour in relation to waste issues;

  • projects to identify and implement solutions in resource and infrastructure management.

The Riverina Eastern Regional Organisation of Councils (REROC) is a voluntary association of seven General Purpose councils and one water county council located in the eastern Riverina region of NSW. The members of REROC are the councils of Bland, Coolamon, Cootamundra-Gundagai, Greater Hume, Junee, Lockhart and Temora and Goldenfields Water County Council. Please visit the REROC Website to access the member councils contact list.

The REROC AGM Reports can be downloaded for further information on REROC and the Waste Forum's recent activities.

All the General Purpose councils and Wagga Wagga City Council are participating members of the REROC Waste Forum. The REROC Waste Forum is a Voluntary Regional Waste Group and is partially funded through the NSW Environment Protection Authority.

The Waste Forum's most recent strategy - Regional Waste Management & Resource Recovery Strategy 2022-27 sets the strategic directions for waste management, resource recovrey and circular economy activities in the Region. The Strategy addresses four theme areas: 1) Avoid and Reduce Waste Generation 2) Recover Resources 3) Protect the Environment 4) Strategic Collaboration

The Waste Forum usually meets bi-monthly either in person or electronically and reports directly to the REROC Board through reports to the bi-monthly board meetings.
