Metal Waste Collections

The REROC Waste Forum commenced regional metal waste collections in 2000. Prior to this, some member councils were unable to have their metal waste collected due to their location and size.

For the first 7 years of the project, a contract was offered for 2-3 years in duration. In 2007 Waste Forum members decided to offer contracts for one-off collections covering a 3 month period. This has suited the Waste Forum members as they are able to go out to tender at a time that is suitable for them in relation to their stock levels and they have better control on when contractors are collecting their metal waste.

Since 2000 to the most recent collection held in late 2023, over 20,000 tonnes of metal waste has been collected from the REROC member councils.
