Green Bin Night and Beyond

 

Step 1.

Your food scraps are collected in a kitchen caddy or container ready for the green bin.


 

Step 2.

Your green bin, containing your food and garden scraps, is emptied every week.


 

Step 3.

Your food and garden scraps are transported to your local compost plant.


 

Step 4.

Contamination is removed and sent to landfill. Remember, NO plastic, compostable or biodegradable bags (these items can contaminate the resulting compost).


 

Step 5.

The food and garden scraps are shredded and stored.


 

Step 6.

The material is transformed into compost in long climate-controlled bays, with regular turning by machine.


 

Step 7.

Air separation and screening processes remove further contamination and oversize material.


 

Step 8.

The final nutrient-rich compost is stored on site.


 

Step 9.

Your valuable food and garden scraps are used to improve local parks and gardens.
